1 SG Curry is survived by his wife Lucia and sons, Taylor and Kevin, ages 12 and 9, at the time of his passing.
Raised in a large and loving family, he is also survived by five sisters, Keisha, Niki, Lavette, Georgette, and Danielle, two brothers, Jeffrey and David, paternal grandfather, Dennis Curry, Sr., maternal grandmother, Louise Small, paternal great-grandmother, Zadie Thompson, seven nephews, three nieces, nine aunts, four uncles, over forty cousins and a host of friends and fellow soldiers all over the world.
EDUCATION
1 SG Curry was a graduate of Hollywood Hills High School in1987 and earned his Associates of Arts Degree from the University College of the University of Maryland.
MILITARY CAREER
Immediately following his high school graduation, 1 SG Curry enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in numerous hot spots around the world from Desert Storm to Iraq to Afghanistan.
He began his career with the 3-325th Airborne Battalion Combat Team in Vicenza, Italy. He later served as a Ranger Instructor in Fort Benning, Georgia, before returning to Vicenza as weapons squad leader, S-3 Air NCO and a platoon sergeant in 1-508th IN. He was assigned as a platoon sergeant in 2-75th IN at Ft. Lewis, Washington, where he became the G-3 Transformation NCOIC, I Corps. In 2002, he returned to Vicenza as a platoon sergeant in the 2-503rd IN, as Battalion Operations Sergeant during OIF 1, and as Brigade Operations Sergeant during OEF V1. In May 2006, he was assigned as the First Sergeant of Delta Company, 1-503 IN. He served as 1SG for in excess of one year before deploying in support of OEF V111.
